P.S. Frocks x Macleod Refuge | International Women's Day 2021
Celebrated annually here at P.S. Frocks HQ, International Women's Day (IWD) is an important time to acknowledge how far we’ve come economically, socially and culturally as women and more importantly - how far we still have to go.
Celebrating women is something we’ve done since the conception of the brand 10 years ago - creating dresses to inspire self-love and confidence is exactly why our founder, Jodie, started P.S. Frocks in the first place!
The P.S. Team: Katrina, Jodie, Stacey & Lauren
This year, with the 2021 IWD campaign theme being #ChooseToChallenge, we pledged to highlight women's achievements, call out gender inequalities and stand by women in need of our help. We are pleased to share that one way we’re participating this year is partnering with local organisation Macleod Refuge, an accommodation support service for women and children escaping domestic violence here on the Gold Coast.
Our 2021 pledge to #ChooseToChallenge for International Woman’s Day
Macleod Refuge not only offers high security pet-friendly accommodation for women in need, but they also provide extensive resources with the help of qualified trauma counsellors and child support staff to achieve an independent life free of violence. This week we put together bags of essential items and maxi dresses to help these women start their new life journey.
We’re choosing to make small changes in our professional and personal life too by checking in with other women in our lives, celebrating achievements in the workplace and making a conscious effort to tell women around us how they’ve enriched our life.
Macleod values any contribution, big or small - all donations are also 100% tax deductible. These donations go towards expenses such as:
- An initial food shop for the women and children who arrive at the refuge
- Clothing (as most women and children arrive with little to no belongings, they supply new undergarments and culturally appropriate garments to their clients)
- School uniforms and supplies
- Nappies and baby formula
- Ongoing assistance for women with no income who need extensive support
- Medical, legal and translator support
- Pet supplies
- Transportation and relocation costs
